So the eyes of the entire world were on Windsor on the 19th May…..but in the middle of the Chew Valley, in the beautiful village of Stanton Drew, it was also Laura and Richard’s big day. I think the fact that it was the same day as the Royal Wedding did increase excitement in the build up and, on the morning itself when I arrived at Laura’s family’s farm, the tv was on in the background as the girls were all having their hair and make up done. It was funny to think that a couple of hours away the bridal party and lots of famous guests would have been doing the exact same thing! Royal or not, most of us like a bit of a pamper, have a glass of bubbles while the finishing touches to getting ready happen and try and get any pre wedding nerves under control!
Over at the Church Richard and his Groomsmen were chatting to guests and trying to keep cool in the welcome inside of the church. Lots of couples dream of having a bright sunny day for their wedding but that can obviously be tricky to manage for the guys if it’s actually pretty hot and you’re in your finest top to toe tweed suit! The Rector,Charles, christened both my children so it was lovely to see him again and Laura’s gorgeous 3 girls were waiting with excitement to see Laura arriving. During the ceremony, there were a few (happy!) tears but it was all too much for a toddler who fell fast asleep along a church pew…..When it’s nap time, it’s nap time!
Afterwards the couple were showered with confetti and we all headed back to the farm for what can only be described as a glorious wedding reception up in the middle of a field with amazing views across the valley. It was time for some drinks, food, dancing and a particularly fun tractor ride! Here are some of my favourite pictures:
