What a wet August it’s been! Luckily for Hayley and Richard, I think they probably had the best day of the whole month and it was sunny and warm when I arrived at Thornbury Castle in the morning to capture the preparations. Hayley and the girls were upstairs and hair and make up was already well underway. I loved the flower girls’ dresses which made me think of Degas ballet dancers as they twirled about!
Richard and the boys got their ties and button holes on and soon guests began to arrive. Hayley and Richard had decided to split their ceremony into two parts which was a lovely idea; the first in the Tudor Hall for the legal bit and the second in the Rose Garden for their vows. The theme for the day was, very appropriately, roses and the girls even had some beautiful Tudor Rose necklaces on as a present from the Bride and Groom.
The garden was a lovely setting for drinks and canapés after the ceremony and amazingly it only started to rain as the guests sat down for dinner later on. After dinner Haley and Richard had their first dance and then everyone went outside for sparklers; a fabulous way to end the day. Here are some of my favourite images:
