It was yet another glorious sunny Summer’s day for Laura and Alex’s wedding at Priston Mill last month. Laura spent the morning getting ready at her parents’ house and when I arrived I was very impressed that all the girls had matching flowery robes on – I do love a bit of coordination! They also had fizz with a summer twist; raspberries in their Champers! There was a great atmosphere and we even got some pictures in the garden which was lovely. Laura had gone to a lot of effort with all the details and had written little notes to her parents, sister and the girls which prompted a few tears and hugs.
Over at Priston Mill guests were arriving and the boys were sorting their button holes out when I arrived. The barn looked lovely inside and I particularly liked the painted ladder to hold all the little jam jars of flowers – a pretty and effective decoration and pretty easy to do yourself (I have actually found myself looking at one of our old wooden ladders since then and contemplating painting it to use for shelving!). During the ceremony, Laura’s Sister Katie read a poem she had written herself. I have actually never heard anything quite like it and it nearly made me cry along with everyone else!
Afterwards Laura and Alex headed out on to the lawn and guests enjoyed the sunshine and drinks and canapés while the children (and a few adults!) loved the garden games. It’s such a nice setting at Priston with the hay fields in the background and country views. The garden games continued after the meal with a few keen cricketers setting up a match on the lawn after dinner. I’m not sure if anyone really had their eye in by that point but it was a fun end to the day for me. Here are some of my favourite images from their day:
