The Autumn has always been my favourite time of year for portrait photographs – the lovely soft colours, the wonderful light (and even the odd gust of wind or shower also make for great photos!). I have spent the last month doing some wonderful shoots with families outside and enjoying stomping across ploughed fields and woodlands, playing in leaves and collecting apples. I’ve been making the most of it as I know quite soon those lovely backgrounds will have gone for this year and it will be time for snow, hats and scarves!
A few weeks back I travelled up to the Wye Valley to see Katherine and James and their little girl Matilda in their new home, for some shots out in their garden. James’ Dad and Step Mother were also there so it was wonderful to have 3 generations for the shoot and to get some pictures of Matilda and her grandparents. I have known the family since I photographed Katherine and James’ wedding a few years back and I last saw Matilda when I took some photographs of her around her first birthday and she was just starting to toddle about. It was fantastic to see her again running around the garden, chattering away and having a tea party with her teddies! She has got a great sparkly personality, is full of energy and kept us all running about after her – a great shoot and a really fun way to spend the morning. Here are some of my favourite images:
