Well I couldn’t photograph a wedding much closer to home than St Andrews Church in Chew Magna, which is our local church in the next village and where Lara was christened last year. It is a lovely church with a really pretty churchyard lined with lavender and I started there just before the ceremony a couple of weeks back, for Katie and Richard’s wedding. Katie and Richard met morris dancing and had invited a lot of their friends and fellow morris dancers from the Mendip and Cardiff area to the wedding. As all the dancers wore their full regalia it was a very colourful wedding and we even got to see some dancing in church while the registers were signed, which is a first for me!
Afterwards, Katie and Richard were treated to a guard of honour as they left church and we headed over to Winford Manor for the reception. Luckily, the forecast showers didn’t really start until later on in the afternoon which was great as it meant Katie and Richard could have a bit of a wander in the lovely grounds before joining their guests for the drinks reception. During the meal and evening there were several little touches to make the most of their passion for morris dancing including an appearance by the team mascot and Katie being hoisted into the air by her fellow dancers. The music and dancing made for a great atmosphere and it was really fun to photograph.
