Last week I drove into deepest, darkest Somerset for Venetia and Dominic’s wedding at Babbington House. I had photographed two other weddings for their friends over the last few years so it was really lovely to see some familiar faces and be a part of their day.
Venetia and Dominic had decided to keep the whole day very low key and relaxed which meant there was a really nice chilled out atmosphere all day. Venetia and bridesmaids Nicky and Susie got ready in the top floor suit which had a fabulous balcony overlooking the grounds and the little church – how amazing to have a glass of bubbles on the roof and an amazing view to watch your guests arrive! I spent a few minutes with them once they were ready and then headed over to catch up with Dominic and Best Man Richard in their stable room, which also had a lovely terrace – no outdoor bath tub though so they had to make do with some chilled Champage!
The service was one of the most intimate wedding ceremonies I have ever photographed as the church is so tiny it has a very special feel. Afterwards it was lovely for everyone to enjoy the late summer weather and make the most of Babbington’s beautiful grounds. The wedding breakfast was like an evening dinner with big sharing platters for everyone to dig into, which was a really stylish and fun way to do it. By the time it came to pudding though, people looked very full!
I get asked about the timing of speeches all the time and I thought Venetia and Dominic had a great idea; they both spoke before the meal (so they could relax and enjoy it!) and Venetia’s Father and Robert, the Best Man, spoke aftwards. The perfect solution!
Here are some of my favourite images from their day:
