Last Thursday I was up in the Cotswolds at one of my favourite venues, Kingscote Barn. I have been shooting weddings there since it opened a few years ago and every time I arrive to do a wedding, I notice something different. The lovely old outbuildings have now all been carefully restored and are now really nice rooms and the Byre, where Lucy was getting ready is like having a holiday cottage to yourselves – fantastic for a morning with the girls to get hair and make up sorted!
Chris Fordham was already there busy as ever with the hairdryer and tongs and, as always, it was lovely to see him! Lucy and her bridesmaids Josie, Lois, Emily and Beth were enjoying getting ready and there was a real buzz! It was also quite warm, which was nice and good news for the girls who had beautiful short dusky pink dresses.
Over at the barn, Lloyd and best men Andrew and Tom had arrived, along with the most fantastic vintage VW camper van. Lloyd and his mum had fun having a play about with it and I thought they might have been tempted to drive it off for a spin before the ceremony at one point!
The ceremony was one of the nicest civil ceremonies I have photographed as it was taken by a family friend who was really relaxed about photographs which was really nice for me and meant I got some great images. Afterwards, we all went outside onto the lawn for drinks and nibbles and guests had a great time with the photobox and various props!
The summer months are lovely for location shots in country fields and I had noticed as I had driven down the hill to Kingscote, that the corn looked amazing. Lucy, Lloyd and I headed up to the field for a few shots in the corn and then they joined their guests in the barn for dinner and speeches. Here are a few favourite images from their day:
