At the beginning of August, I photographed Katie and Joe’s wedding in Freshford, just outside Bath. I started at the church as katie just wanted the morning at home with her family, so I had a great time capturing the guests arriving and the general build up. Joe and his Best Man Keith were greeting guests when I arrived and the choir were warming up so it was really atmospheric with the lovely music. Freshford church has a lovely setting up on the hill and has amazing views of the village and the valley beyond so it was a fantastic spot for people watching as everyone arrived for the wedding!
During the ceremony I was allowed to take what photographs I wanted which was really refreshing (and not that usual these days!) and then afterwards, Katie and Joe had a receiving line coming out of church so they could greet everyone, which was a nice touch. We then headed off to a favourite spot of Katie’s by the river for a few pictures and then drove on to Wick Barn near Bath for their wedding reception. The barn has some lovely areas for photographs including a rusty old tractor (which they loved as they are very much a countryside loving couple!) and some really pretty outbuildings, so I did their couple shots there and they they joined their guests again on the lawn for drinks and canapes.
I loved their wedding cakes which were two of the most individually themed cakes I have seen – hens and a platypus! Definitely original!
