I have been out of action for a couple of weeks following an operation (and plenty of recouperation and tea drinking at home!) but back in the studio now and just catching up with some shoots from last month. At the end of October I photographed Jo and Ben’s wedding at Kingscote Barn – which is a real favourite of mine and a gorgeous setting at this time of year with all the lovely Autumn colour.
I met up with Jo, who was getting ready with her Sister, when a present arrived for her from Ben (note to all Grooms to be – a wedding day present is a really nice thing to do and will get you big brownie points with your Bride to Be!). A girl can never have enough perfume and and it’s often not something we buy ourselves so Jo looked really pleased and it probably distracted her from her nerves for a few minutes too!
When Ben arrived with his Best Man and ushers I popped out to see them – despite showers initially forecast, it was a bright day and not too cold either. Guests started to arrive and the last half an hour before the wedding seemed to fly by!
Kingscote is a really nice venue for Autumn and Winter weddings because the barn is very light and makes for great photographs at all times of year. I got some lovely shots of Jo and Ben during their ceremony and they then headed out to have drinks and greet their guests. I love that part of a wedding particularly as people just want to congratulate the Bride and Groom and it feels really joyful and the drinks reception is a great time for lots of informal photographs just capturing all the hugs and kisses!
After a while I took Jo and Ben off for some photographs in the lovely grounds and using all the natural backgrounds Kingscote has. I do love the warm colours at this time of year so I used those to make really the images really vibrant.
Here are some of my favourite images from their day:
