It’s been really busy here over the last few weeks with peak wedding season continuing and also several family shoots (watch this space!). So far, it’s been such a nice Autumn that even though we are nearly at the end of September now it’s been quite summery – wouldn’t a few more weeks of mild weather and sunshine be great!
Two weeks ago, I photographed Emily and Simon’s wedding at the Aztec Hotel in North Bristol. Simon and Emily have been a lovely couple to get to know since I first met them last winter. We had a great time meeting up in Bristol for their pre-wedding shoot a few weeks ago so I had been really looking forward to their wedding.
I arrived to find Emily, Mum Diane and bridesmaids Hannah and Lisa having their hair and make up done – Emily sitting in her rollers under the hairdryer so she couldn’t hear a thing!
Everyone had stayed at the hotel the night before after a family meal so it was easy to nip along the corridor and catch up with Simon and his Best Men Aidan and Jerry who were just getting their button holes on and heading downstairs to greet guests. I spent a few minutes with them before Simon saw the Registrars and then headed back upstairs to Emily. As the ceremony was at 11.30 there wasn’t a huge amount of time so it was all hands on deck to get everyone dressed and ready!
Emily had spent all morning beaming and was looking even more excited as she walked along to the ceremony room on her Father’s arm. During the ceremony I managed to get some gorgeous shots just with natural light before everyone went outside on to the terrace for drinks.
The great thing about an early ceremony is it gives you longer with your guests and you have a bit more time to enjoy the reception. Emily and Simon had asked to nip off for a while and do some shots away from the hotel so we walked around the corner to a great area for photographs with both lovely green backgrounds and also some more contemporary and colourful bits. We also did a fun shot on the Aztec West sign – no mean feat to get up there in a wedding dress and heels but Emily was game for anything!
