Last Friday I photographed Louise and Doug’s wedding at one of my favourite venues and a local one for me as it’s only up the road, Priston Mill.

In the morning I drove into Bristol to take some photographs of Louise getting ready at home with her Mum Di and Sister Jen.  The bouquets had already arrived by the time I got there and looked lovely – some really nice sublte colours that went with Jen’s dress and Di’s outfit really well. A note to any other couples getting married in the Autumn – you don’t have to stick to reds and other typically Autumnal colours – pastels and neutrals can look really good as well if mixed with richer, deeper colours.

I then drove over to Priston Mill to meet up with Doug and his Best Man Matthew who were chatting to guests as they arrived.  I also had a quick chat to the Registrars who were pretty flexible and allowed me to stand where I wanted to during the ceremony  which definately makes life easier! Another tip for Brides and Grooms to be  – when booking it’s worth asking for a registrar who will be flexible about photography. You almost certainly won’t know in advance who will be coming to do your ceremony, but you can state a preference for someone who is flexible.

Louise, Di and Jen arrived for the ceremony in a gorgeous cream vintage car and were helped out by Jane from England’s Finest. They have to be my favourite wedding car company in the area and there is just something about having lady chauffeurs!

Louise and Doug clearly loved the ceremony, which looked lovely with all the candles and flowers, and then headed outside for Pimms on the lawn in front of the mill. Amanda Whiting, a local harpist was playing and the music went perfectly with the setting.

Louise and Doug had decided to spend a few minutes just the two of them so Jane drove them off around the local villages for a short while with some Champagne before they came back to join their guests. I also did a few pictures of them in the grounds using the gorgeous backgrounds of the mill and gardens.  Soon it was time to sit down for the speeches which went down very well before everyone tucked into their meal.
